Great news from the city of Norderstedt: We are pleased to have been commissioned to design the wayfinding system for the new education centre. The ground-breaking ceremony for the new building was already in March this year. The building was designed by the architectural office Richter Musikowski from Berlin and is to unite the Garstedt public library, the adult education centre and the town archive under one roof and become a place of learning. The concept of the »Bildungshaus Norderstedt« is unique in Germany and the signage will be a challenge that we will gladly take on!

We designed a very extensive wayfinding system for the Bahrenfeld Research Campus on an area of almost 60 ha: It comprises a total of 152 pylons as well as 185 façade elements. Another special feature is the addition of tactile fields to the visual signage in order to support accessibility. We are very pleased to have been part of this project!

New wayfinding system for GERCH at “The Q” in Nuremberg.

The GERCH has joined up with architects kister scheithauer gross to develop the section 1 of the 10.9 ha site into a vibrant urban quarter, combining work and living with a high amenity value. The transformation of this iconic ensemble takes great care to handle the heritage-listed architecture of Ernst Neufert with the greatest respect.
Retail, gastronomy, kindergarten and a branch of Nuremberg’s public authority are also planned as further uses of “The Q”.

We are looking forward to the exciting challenge of developing the wayfinding system for section 1 of this new quarter!

One particular highlight is the roof top with former ice rink featuring views across the city centre, which can also be used for event purposes.

Just commissioned : New wayfinding system of the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (Academy fo fine Arts and Design Leipzig).

In collaboration with Woltereck Fitzner Architekten (Leipzig), Studio Gourdin has been assigned with the design and planning of the orientation system at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (HGB). With its close links to the book trade as well as the painting style of the , the HGB can look back on a long and distinguished history, the roots of which are found in the second half of the 18th century. The venerable building dates from the Wilhelminian period and is characterised by its E-shaped floor plan, organised around a central building with atrium – a layout which also provides a challenge for orientation.

We are looking forward to a further joint project with our architect colleagues in Leipzig, with whom we are also working to develop the signage and orientation system for the castles, fortresses and gardens of Saxony.

Final opening of the Humboldt Forum

With the opening of the East Wing by Claudia Roth (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media), the entire Humboldt Forum is now open. From today, the presentation of the collections of the Ethnological Museum and the Asian Art Museum will be accessible in a tour on two levels.
Both the reconstruction of the palace and the provenance of the collection holdings repeatedly caused justified debates during their realisation. With their partly workshop character, the exhibitions already show how these issues were taken up during completion and how there is an opportunity for a measurable reappraisal of history.
The Humboldt Forum will do more justice than ever to the public forum. Good thing!

Without doubt, it was one of the most important projects of our studio in past years where we spent many energy do design the wayfinding system as well as the exhibition graphics.

There can only be one winner! Cross Innovation Lab 2021: Climate

What happens when transport companies and state infrastructure authorities collaborate with three creative professionals (Ulrich GrenzJonas Voigt and Nathanaël Gourdin) in considering the issue of mobility? The result is exciting and unexpected solutions with a focus on mobility culture and quality of life.

In the scope of the “Cross Innovation Lab 2021: Climate” initiated by the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft a participative communication concept for a new mobility culture was developed, with the aim of encouraging citizens to practice sustainable mobility, further developing the urban space in the process.

In the form of a competition, an app is used to collect points via CO2 tracking, which can be used to redesign parking spaces (rePlace) for a 6-month period. With the aid of augmented reality, the Parklet modules available for selection (stage, exhibition space, mini market, lounge, cycle repair station…) can be visualised at the chosen location. This will create new spaces of interaction for a city with a high quality of life. The competition format utilises the incentive of creative involvement and participation in mobility transition: the more sustainable the mobility, the more the city becomes a public, vibrant and future-capable habitat – Moving City for Future.

Concise, fresh and flexible: the MovingHH umbrella brand created for the project serves both the communication process for a new mobility culture in Hamburg and the identification of the Parklets as an initial step. It is designed for both independent use and as an add-on to other brands.

When mobility encourages a change of direction...
