Urban Yards, Berlin

A new tune

For nearly a century, Wilhelmstraße 118 was one of the top addresses throughout Berlin for bookbinding. The premises of the founders Lüderitz & Bauer was equipped with state-of-the-art technology and even bore the name “Buchgewerbehaus” – the book trade building. Other tenants such as Monotype (typesetting machines) and Olympia (typewriters) were also associated with the field of printing. The chocolate factory Wilhelm Rausch, which still exists in Berlin today, and the piano factory of the Schwechten brothers also left their mark on the interesting history of the building. Now it is home to the digital sector. A strong identity that will soon be revealed...
